The platform does not matter much anymore. Photoshop CS, CS2, CS3 and CS4 ran the fastest running on Windows XP and Vista. Adobe has promised better performance with CS5, but it is too early to tell if that is true
* A desktop or notebook with at least an Intel Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad processor
* 4 GB or better 8 GB RAM
* 320 gb hard drive (if you can find a computer with a 500 gb to 1 tb go for it)
* At least 3 USB 2.0 ports (USB 3.0 if you can find a computer with them)
* An ExpressCard54 slot
* A HDMI port
* If a notebook, at least a 17 inch screen * If a desktop a 21″ to 24″ LCD.
* The programs you need may cost more than the computer.
* Adobe In Design
* Adobe Illustrator
* Adobe Photoshop
* Adobe Lightroom
* MS Office
Perhaps the MOST important tool you will need is a monitor calibration tool. A calibrated monitor is VERY important for how you plan on using it.
This book is an important one if you hope to understand your role as the Guardian of Colour

As long as you keep your software matched to the hardware, you can use anything. The best way to improve graphics handling is to install as much memory as your system can allow.
You should better opt for a dell studio laptop it has all the needed features needed in making images
doesn’t matter u use PC or Mac, it’s the software that matter. Adobe Lightroom 2 and Adobe PhotoShop CS5 are best couple on photo editing and photo management.
some folks prefer macs for the high end graphics on the macbook pro
I think its just software., PHoto shop, CS3, CS4 or CS5
I guess it really depends on how much you want to spend.
btw, as pretty as the resolution and graphics are on a mac, you dont know what who or what platform your picture will be viewed on. thats why I suggest the lowest/windows box so you can atleast see how bad it can be..lol
