I have Windows XP and want to install Windows 7 on the same hard drive. How?

Question by Stephen C: I have Windows XP and want to install Windows 7 on the same hard drive. How?
I know this is possible, I’ve done something like it before.
And I know it’s called “dual-booting” and something about creating partitions. I am really great at computers and even build them, but I’ve never gotten into this deep booting stuff.

I have one hard drive, with Windows XP Media Edition SP3 (I think). But I have a Windows 7 disc and want to have them both on the same HD.
Don’t bother explaining it in an answer, just point me to a simple tutorial or article so I can do this properly.
The only tutorials I’ve found are for installing XP on a computer with Vista, and that’s not what I’m doing.
Thanks! ^^

Lol. Just partition your hard drive in order to have room for a second install. I recommend at least 30GB partition for 7.

  1. Split the HDD in half (Partition the primary partition as XP and the Windows 7 partition as the second, you do this like this

when you are installing Windows 7 it asks you where you want to install it, click create new partition and there you have it just choose the harddrive space.
