Q&A: pc world problems with repairs and warrenty?
Question by tony b: pc world problems with repairs and warrenty?
heya,i brought a desktop computer last year early june which broke down about 8 months into my warrenty and was repaired 3 times, after the last time it worked for about 4 months.then to my horror the same problem arose.now i rang pc world and they said basically tough luck my warrenty is up and i would have to pay.Now in my eyes they never actually really fixed the problem, more like masked it for a while.so im just wondering if any of you out there know what my next cause of action is.ive wrote a letter to packard bell explaining what has happend and that pc world are dragging their name down, but if i have any rights or anything like that to get this sorted.ias i really belive i shouldnt have to pay for a repair that i tried to get done while the warrent was in place, and basically they didnt do a proper job….thank you
well i shouldnt have to ask for a new machine as they are supposed to be the experts and repair it plus they didnt even offer to take it away and repair it properly
i do live in the uk

Well this is a problem, And mostly nothing you can do. The company made a effort to fix the problem so that lifts the burdon off of them. After the 2nd repair failed should asked for either a new machine or a refund. You didn’t do that. Personally I would have asked fora new machine after the first time.
You only have a one year warranty and that is gone. you could write the company c/o But don’t seeing that doing you a lot of good. You could try taking the company to small claims court. But imagine they are in another state and don’t know how that works. But you probably wouldn’t win. Since you didn’t say what the problem was with the computer. No helping you there. You could pay get it fixed or running and sell it. keep in mind you by law have to disclose any known problem it may have.
So there you have it. you are pretty much stuck with it. My mom mail orders computers and always had to get a part or something in it replaced. so be a lesson. Get one in a computer shop or store. Sorry that happen but little too late for action dave
